The Taste of Soul Festival hit Crenshaw Boulevard for its ninth year this past Saturday, and the community came out in droves to support an event that features South Los Angeles’ best food, and great Soul, R&B, and Gospel music.

People strolled up and down Crenshaw from Rodeo Road to Stocker Street, stopping by vendor booths to purchase fine art, fashion, great food, and to watch live performances including singers Tyrese, Tank, Angie Fisher, Syleena Johnson, Troop and AKNU, the brother duo who rose to fame from “X-Factor.” The event featured stages that were hosted by 94.7 The Wave and Radio Free KJLH 102.3.

Taste of Soul, created by Bakewell Media, was hosted by Queen Latifah, the event’s first celebrity co-chair. “I support it every year, I come every year,” Latifah said, “Good food, good music, good fun. That’s what it’s about.”

The event also allowed organizations to promote important services to the community, such as healthcare and education information.

Taste of Soul has become one of the largest street festivals in the nation, and reportedly welcomed nearly 350,000 attendees this year.
