The California State Board of Equalization (BOE) Chairman Jerome E. Horton and Board Member George Runner will host a free Valley Glen Small Business Seminar July 9 to provide small-to-medium-sized companies with information about millions of dollars in tax credits and refunds and business loan assistance. Attendees will learn about traditional and nontraditional capital and how to minimize the burden of tax compliance, plus have the opportunity to meet their elected representatives who make decisions that affect small businesses.

The seminar will be held from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in Monarch Hall on the campus of Los Angeles Valley College, 5800 Fulton Ave., Valley Glen. Check-in for the event begins at 8 a.m. Register for the seminar online at www.boe.ca.gov/seminars or by calling (888) 847-9652.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but every day owners face challenges with California’s complicated tax laws,” said Board Member Runner. “As their elected taxpayer advocate, I want to make sure small business owners can be successful and avoid California’s tax traps.”

Senator Alex Padilla, Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, Los Angeles Councilmember Paul Krekorian, the Universal City North Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Los Angeles Valley College are co-sponsoring the seminar.
