Lancaster offers Preschool and Wee Folks programs

Lancaster is offering residents the opportunity to start the education of their little ones early with the Preschool and Wee Folks programs offered at El Dorado Park. Taught by trained and certified city staff, both programs provide lively and fun experiences. From social development through games and group activities, to development of independence, little ones will receive the preparation and tools necessary for a successful education.

Wee Folks (3 yrs.)

A positive first-school experience for young children, Wee Folks encourages social development through group activities and play. Class activities include crafts, stories and outdoor play activities. Potty-trained children must be three years old by Sept. 2. Cost of the class: $140 ($147 NR).

Preschool (4 yrs.)

In this kindergarten preparation class, youngsters develop their social skills through play, art, songs, games and outside play activities. Students are encouraged to develop their independence, improve their self-help and sharing skills and learn how to better follow directions. Children must be four years old by Sept. 2. Cost of the class: $205 ($212 NR).

El Dorado Park is located at 44501 5th St. East, north of Avenue J. Parents are required to pack their child a nutritious snack every day, as well as volunteer twice during the term of the course.

Registration for the El Dorado Park Preschool and Wee Folks classes must be completed in person at the city’s Parks, Recreation and Arts Department located in City Hall at 44933 Fern Avenue. Registration must be accompanied by: (1) A recent (within the last month) photo of your child; and (2) emergency contact information. For more information, call (661) 723-6077. City Hall hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
