OW Staff Writer | 4/24/2014, midnight

The Jr. Dixon Foundation hosted its Eighth Annual Walk-A-Thon and Health Fair benefiting children and veterans who require prosthetic limbs earlier this month. Established in 2005 by Ilsie Dixon in memory of her son, Burley, who at 10 lost a leg due to a vascular disease, the Foundation hosts its annual event each April and donates books, toys and games to Los Angeles Children’s Hospital. The Foundation assists with supplying upper/lower extremity and breast prosthetics/bras; prosthetic arms, wrists and hands, as well as above- and below-knee prosthetics.
