‘Global Youth Service Day’ at Marie Kerr Park this Saturday

The City of Palmdale continues its “Season of Service” program this Saturday, April 19 with a “Global Youth Service Day” clean up at Marie Kerr Park, 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd.  as part of the city’s participation in the “National Day of Service” in recognition Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The clean up will begin at 8:30 a.m.. Volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. All participants must complete a Release of Liability (available at www.cityofpalmdale.org or at event registration). Participants are requested to wear close-toed shoes and be prepared/able to walk over uneven terrain, and use work gloves and sun protection. Water will be provided. Verification of service hours is available.

Youth, families and the young at heart are invited to participate in a park beautification at one of Palmdale’s most beloved parks.  This project has also been elected as a 2014 Keller Williams Red Day Event.

The final project in the “Season of Service” will  be the “Mormon Helping Hands Day” event on Saturday, April 26. Sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, residents are encouraged to join in on in a makeover of Desert Sands Park, 39117 3rd Street East in Palmdale.
