A gang member was sentenced Wednesday to 106 years to life in prison for attacking his girlfriend and holding her and her brother at gunpoint in a Lancaster house nearly two years ago, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Bernie LaForteza sentenced Stacey Jerome Whicker, 41, who was found guilty last month of seven counts, including assault with a firearm, false imprisonment by violence and possession for sale of a controlled substance.
Whicker had previous convictions of voluntary manslaughter and robbery stemming from a 1992 shooting.
Deputy District Attorney Seth Carmack said Whicker slapped and choked his girlfriend at his house on Dec. 1, 2012. When her brother tried to intervene, Whicker pulled out a gun and wouldn’t let either victim go, the prosecutor said.
The brother grabbed a screwdriver and stabbed the defendant in the head. The brother managed to escape, but Whicker drove off with his girlfriend and they were later pulled over by police. Cocaine and cocaine base were found in the car, the prosecutor said.
The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Lancaster Station.
