Remembering Luther: The Night We Fell in Love

Vocalist Abraham McDonald will premiere a show he is about to take on tour in his Remembering Luther concert.

The program, called “The Night We Fell in Love,” which begins at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday just before the Lights, Camera, Runway” fashion show/fundraiser, is a tribute concert featuring vignettes of Luther Vandross songs.

McDonald, whose victory on the first ever “Oprah Show Karaoke Challenge” earned him an exclusive contract with the Island Def Jam Music Group, released his first single, “Miracle,” earlier this year.

His win on Oprah’s contest (which included live performances on three shows) was the culmination of a life-long journey to share his musical artistry with the world. That journey all began when McDonald, a Dallas, Texas, native won the NAACP ACT-SO talent contest at age 13 with his version of Oleta Adam’s “Get Here.” That was the same song that won him Oprah’s first prize years later.

Self-described as an artist who sings Pop, Soul and Worship music McDonald has followed up his Karaoke Challenge win with live performances, singing the national anthem and five re-appearances on the “Oprah Show.”
