The City of Lancaster, SuperKarts! USA (SKUSA), and Lancaster Honda are once again preparing to host the fastest street race in the nation—the annual Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix.

“With the partnership of SKUSA and Lancaster Honda, in only a few years Streets of Lancaster has grown into the fastest street race in the nation, drawing more than 30,000 spectators and nearly 150 professional drivers last year,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris.

SKUSA brought their top-notch professional event management to the Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix in 2011—and in the process took it from a local karting race to a SKUSA-sanctioned event. This three-day happening, Sept. 27-29, features professional go-kart racers from across the nation showcasing their karting skills at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour, as well as a street festival.

The action starts Friday morning with a media race, and continues throughout the day with sponsor and partner qualifying heats. On Saturday, the races kick into high gear with the highly competitive community races—including the Mayor’s Gold Cup, Guns & Hoses and VIP BLVD Championship events—as well as professional practice and qualifying. On Sunday, the professional racers showcase their skills and abilities—vying for championship points and prize money as the California ProKart Challenge wraps up another season.

In addition to offering an incredible kart-racing experience, the Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix will  include entertainment, food and fun children’s activities with its accompanying street festival on Saturday, 12-9 p.m., and Sunday, 12-4 p.m.

“Whether you’re enjoying the electrifying, white-knuckle, high speeds of the professional races, the fierce-but-friendly rivalry of the community races, or the family-friendly street festival activities and entertainment, the Grand Prix is always a unique, exciting and unforgettable event,” concluded Parris.
