OW Staff Writer | 9/13/2013, midnight
The city of Lancaster kicks off its new soccer program by hosting a free soccer day for children 2 to 8 years old at the James C. Gilley Lancaster National Soccer Center on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m.-noon.
This special event and the city’s new youth soccer program are led by Soccer Shots, the national leader in youth soccer development.
The City’s Free Soccer Day will provide families with the opportunity to enjoy a sampling of the Youth Soccer program that begins Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013. Children will be organized into three age-based groups, where they will enjoy creative age-appropriate activities which introduce them to the sport of soccer in a noncompetitive and fun-filled environment. Parents should anticipate that their children will be engaged in these activities for approximately 30 minutes.
The Free Soccer Day, as well as the Youth Soccer program, will be grouped into the following age categories: Mommy/Daddy and me, 2-3 years; Classic Pre-K, 3-5 years; Premier Soccer, 6-8 years.
No registration is necessary for the Free Soccer Day but it is required for participation in the Youth Soccer program which begins Saturday, Sept. 21.
