Inglewood Police investigators have detained a person-of-interest in the murder of Crystallyn Nguyen and Dora Lee Dawson, who were shot on Oct. 8 at approximately 12:51 p.m., in the 11700 block of S. Crenshaw Boulevard.

Datwan Henderson, 22, and the boyfriend of Nguyen sustained two gunshot wounds in the shooting.

Investigators took Justin Marquis Scott, age 19 of Compton, into custody in connection with the double murder. Based on leads developed during a 24-hour investigation, it is believed that Scott is the ex-boyfriend of Nguyen.

He was taken into custody last Wednesday afternoon in the city of Compton and will be held for questioning. The investigation is continuing as detectives gather additional evidence. Inglewood Police personnel are working with the families and local clergy to assist with various grief services.

Investigators now believe that the suspect approached Henderson at the rear of his residence on Crenshaw Boulevard and an altercation occurred. The suspect allegedly produced a gun and chased Henderson into his apartment. The suspect shot Henderson, along with his grandmother, Dawson,  and girlfriend, Nguyen.
