INGLEWOOD, Calif. — A former boyfriend of one of two women fatally shot in Inglewood was taken into custody Wednesday.

A man was also critically injured in the shooting that occurred around 12:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 11700 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard, according to Inglewood police Capt. James Madia.

Investigators took Justin Marquis Scott, 19 of Compton, into custody this afternoon, Madia said.

“Based on leads developed during the 24-hour investigation, it is believed that Scott is the ex-boyfriend of Crystallyn Nguyen. He was taken into custody this afternoon in the city of Compton,” Madia said.

Detectives worked through the night to identify Scott as the possible killer, Madia said.

Two women and one man were found suffering from gunshot wounds, and all were hospitalized. The two women — identified as Nguyen, 18, and Dora Lee Dawson, 68 — died later Tuesday. The third victim, 22-year-old Datwan Henderson, suffered two gunshot wounds and remained in critical condition, police said.

Madia said it is believed Scott approached Henderson at the rear of his residence and an altercation occurred. They believed he pulled out a gun and chased Henderson into his apartment. The suspect shot Henderson, along with Henderson’s grandmother Dora Lee Dawson, and Nguyen.

Anyone with information about the shooting was urged to contact Inglewood police at (310) 412-5240. Anonymous tips can be made by calling (888) 41-CRIME.
