Inglewood couple arrested for the death of her child

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Authorities today identified a 4-year-old boy who died at a hospital after possibly being abused.

Officers went to a residence in the 500 block of North Marlborough Avenue about 6:45 a.m. Thursday on a report of a “non-breathing child,” the Inglewood Police Department reported.

“The response to the radio call has revealed possible child abuse,” according to a police statement.

Major Woods died at a hospital. An autopsy was pending to determine the cause of death, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

The child’s 23-year-old mother and 28-year-old boyfriend, who were living together at the location, were taken into custody for questioning. Their names were not immediately released.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — A woman and her live-in boyfriend were in custody today following the death of her child, who may have been abused at a home in Inglewood, authorities said.

The child was not breathing when officers went to a home in the 500 block of North Marlborough Ave. around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, said Inglewood police Sgt. Francisco Ruiz. The child was pronounced dead at Centinela Hospital, he said.

The victim’s 23-year-old mother and 28-year-old live-in boyfriend were taken into custody because police uncovered possible evidence of child abuse, he said. Their names were not immediately released. Nor was the child’s name, age and gender.
