Police searching for killer of teen shot dead in South Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Police today were searching for the killer of a teenager shot dead in South Los Angeles, according to authorities.

Elawnza Peebles was shot in the 4600 block of Kansas Avenue at 9:46 p.m. Saturday by an unknown suspect, said Detective Chris Barling of the Los Angeles Police Department.

He ran to a nearby driveway, where he collapsed, according to Barling.

Peebles was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting’s motive was under investigation, Barling said.

Peebles had recently moved to the neighborhood, according to Barling.
