Inner City Youth Orchestra sets concert

The Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles will present “A Season Ending Concert,” featuring such compositions as “The Big Country” by Jerome Moross,    “Procession of the Nobles” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and “Symphony No. 5” by Ludwig Van Beethoven. An added portion of the concert will be a “A Tribute to Michael Jackson,” featuring three of his hits: “Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough,” “Man in the Mirror” and “Billie Jean.”

The Inner City Youth Orchestra is a group of about 125 middle school, high school and college-age youth. Among its performance highlights are a private reception for first lady Michelle Obama, the unveiling of the National Memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the National Mall, and swearing-in ceremonies for Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and District Attorney Jackie Lacey.

The concert will be held at the Walt Disney Concert Hall at First Street and Grand Avenue on Sunday, July 7, at 3 p.m. Tickets, which range from $25 to $50, are available through Ticketmaster (800) 982-2787, and at the Disney Hall box office, or by contacting the ICYOLA at Post Office Box 59013, Los Angeles, CA 90059-0013.
