Get ready for the BET Experience at L.A. Live downtown on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 28-30.

It will be a weekend that will rock your soul. And speaking of soul, prepare yourself for some soul-saving performances when BET’s “Sunday Best” executive producer and host, Gospel great Kirk Franklin, presents an amazing concert and worship experience.

Franklin has distinguished himself as a Gospel music innovator. He is a pioneer in gap-bridging musicianship, uniting audiences across Gospel, Hip Hop, Pop and R&B. His irresistible rhythms and rhapsodies have resulted in albums that consistently top both Billboard’s Gospel and Christian charts, as well as ascend triumphantly into the Top 10 of the R&B/Hip Hop charts.

Franklin, in a recent interview, said he’s excited to be coming to Los Angeles and be a part of this Gospel experience. He recognizes that this is a special event and he’s really excited about the fact that he’s curating the program as well. He says he’s been working on the production for the past four months.

The concert and worship service will feature Gospel great Donnie McClurkin, who will be delivering an inspirational sermon, as well as performances by the legendary singers Karen Clark-Sheard and Kiera Sheard of BET’s “The Sheards.” Additionally, Le’Andria Johnson, Amber Bullock and Joshua Rogers, all past season winners of the BET hit television competition, “Sunday Best,” will perform.

Franklin will no doubt deliver an outstanding production. A master at performing, this nine-time Grammy winner knows how to impact an audience. He says he’s been doing some type of event for the past 20 years, and that he’s comfortable with the pulse of everything surrounding an event. He says, “When you are being invited to do something you kind of know what things to hit, how it should be rolled out, so it could have a strong impact.”

The one thing he will rely on is the Gospel tradition that comes with singing in the church.

“When you do Gospel music it’s like you’re always ready,” he said. “That’s what makes it so real, so touching; that’s what makes it so much more exciting, because it’s so spontaneous because that’s what people in this genre are used to doing.” That’s also why he intends to do something different, he said.

“Rarely do you see all the Gospel artists on stage at one time interacting. When I curate an event I try to make it where it’s not one act at one time, at some point everybody is on stage together.”

Franklin is enjoying a phenomenal career. “Sunday Best” is the highest-rated Gospel program in BET network history, and is now heading into its fourth season. And he’s now in his second season of the “American Bible Challenge” on Game Show Network as a musical co-host with Jeff Foxworthy.

About his career Franklin said: “I’m just really trying to be a good steward of it all. Trying to make sure I’m managing everything, and at the same time trying to make sure that my life kind of lines up, making sure that my private life and all the things around me are really just kind of set in order. So I am grateful, but I also stay very aware. I don’t want to be caught slipping.”
