On July 12, community residents and organizations, including the Community Coalition, will hold a grand opening for the Fresh Fridays produce stand on the corner of 39th Street and Western Avenue from 3-6 p.m.
Billed as the healthy food alternative, Fresh Fridays will be held each week at 3894 S. Western Ave. in the parking lot of the Century Liquor Market. It will sell organic and locally grown fruits and vegetables, feature cooking demonstrations and giveaways of free samples.
Customers can pay with cash, as well as credit and EBT cards.
The first cooking demonstration on July 12 will focus on using some of the vegetables sold at the produce stand.
