The newest show from producer Danny Chang, artistic director of the Golden Dragon Acrobats, Cirque Ziva, is coming to Lancaster. This dazzling and heart-stopping cirque performance is sure to thrill audiences of all ages, and will have you on the edge of your seat as they take the stage at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center Friday, Jan. 24 at 8 p.m.
The Golden Dragon Acrobats represent the best of a time-honored tradition of stimulating sights and skillfully mastered feats of balance which began more than 25 centuries ago. Committed to the highest form of production values for this art, Golden Dragon Acrobats’ attention to every detail creates a grand pageantry of movement and precision that has ensured their unparalleled popularity in the United States. The only Chinese acrobat troupe to tour the country year round, the Golden Dragon Acrobats have set themselves apart in the live acrobatic genre.
After their Broadway debut and seven-week run at the New Victory Theater in 2005, they earned two prestigious New York Drama Desk Award nominations (Angela Chang for Best Choreography and Danny Chang for Most Unique Theatrical Experience).
Trained by his father, Chang started his acrobatic career at age 7, and joined Chang’s Acrobatic Troupe which performed throughout Taiwan. An outstanding performer, Danny was selected to the National Acrobats Troupe of the Republic of China in 1967. Danny has built a solid reputation based on his talents as both an acrobatic performer and artistic director. Every year, along with his wife and company choreographer, Angela, he attends acrobatic competitions to select the most elite performers to join the Golden Dragon Acrobats.
Since its creation in 1985, the Golden Dragon Acrobats have won countless awards, along with thrilling audiences at several by-invitation performances, including the 1996 Summer Olympics.
