A woman sought for illegally holding her three children, including one she allegedly abducted outside a foster home in Palmdale, surrendered the children at a police station in South Los Angeles this week with help from a friend, but she fled before police could arrest her, a deputy said.

Nisshawn Murphy, 39, took her 10-year-old son, Matisse Murphy, from the foster home at 8:50 a.m. Monday, sheriff’s Deputy Jodi Wolfe of the Palmdale station said.

Because of criminal convictions, Murphy was ordered to relinquish her 4-year-old twins, Bryan and Treasure Murphy, to child welfare authorities at a Nov. 19 court hearing, Wolfe said. When she failed to appear in court that day, county Department of Child and Family Services case workers turned to law enforcement.

Sheriff’s detective Luan Dang, said Murphy has been arrested and convicted several times for narcotic violations as well as cruelty to children.

Dang said a friend of Murphy’s brought the children to Los Angeles Police Department’s  Southeast Station at 145 W. 108th St. about 10:30 a.m.

The mother is due in court in the Antelope Valley tomorrow regarding her twins, he said, adding that he would discuss additional charges related to the alleged abduction with prosecutors.
