Activist Eddie Jones is facing misdemeanor charges and a restraining order as the result of an incident that happened at a commemoration celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, that took place Saturday in Leimert Park.
Jones who allegedly pepper sprayed activist Najee Ali in the face and the back of the neck, was arrested after Saturday’s event.
According to Ali, who said that he was in the event’s VIP tent awaiting his turn to speak about 11:30 a.m. when Jones arrived and asked to speak at the event. After being denied, Ali said event security escorted Jones out, who then pulled out pepper spray.
Ali called the attack unprovoked and said Jones “just snapped in a fit of jealousy.” He added that the two of them had no previous altercations.
In a published report, Jones was described as being accused of charging people for working on their behalf. This accusation, the report said has been behind Jones not being allowed to speak or participate in various community events for about two years.
