LANCASTER, Calif. — A 2-year-old pajama-clad boy was found wandering a block from his Lancaster house this morning, about 10 minutes before his parents called authorities to report him missing, authorities said.

A neighbor who lives a block away from the child’s home in the 6000 block of West Avenue L-4 found the toddler just after midnight, said Lt. Paul Phrehm of the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Lancaster Station.

Both of the boy’s parents were in the back yard of their home and an adult son who had been keeping an eye on the child had fallen asleep when the toddler wandered outside and took off walking, Phrehm said.

About 10 minutes after a neighbor found the child and called authorities, the boy’s panicked parents reported him missing, he said.

The child was then reunited with his parents, who were not charged with any wrongdoing, Phrehm said.
