R&B singer Miguel was arrested by the California Highway Patrol today in Marina del Rey for allegedly driving drunk.
The 27-year-old singer, whose full name is Miguel Jontel Pimentel, was taken into custody about 2:15 a.m. after being pulled over near Lincoln Boulevard and Mindanao Way, said CHP Officer K. Muñoz of the West Los Angeles Area office.
Pimentel was booked at the Los Angeles Police Department's 77th Street Station on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Muñoz said.
Bail was set at $5,000, and he was released about 5:15 a.m., according to the sheriff's department. A preliminary date of Sept. 9 was set at the downtown Los Angeles courthouse.
Pimentel was stopped while driving a BMW X6 that allegedly was going too fast and had windows with too dark a tint, Muñoz said. During the subsequent investigation, he was arrested on suspicion of DUI, the officer said.
