Hit-and-run driver kills man in Crenshaw District

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — A man crossing a street in the Crenshaw District was struck and killed early this morning by an SUV whose driver failed to stop and render aid, police said.

The hit-and-run occurred about 1 a.m. in the 4700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The 37-year-old man died at the scene, said said Detective Grace Brady of the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division.

Authorities withheld his name, pending notification of his relatives.

The vehicle was described as a champagne-colored 1999-2000 Land Rover Discovery II, which sustained front-end damage, Brady said.
