Golf tournament helps scholarship fund

AKAs raises money for education

The Pearl Foundation, an affiliate of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Theta Alpha Omega Chapter, which has been dedicated to providing scholarships to college-bound students since 1992, will hold its annual charity golf tournament Aug. 12 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Navy Destroyer Golf Course in Cypress, Calif.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the foundation’s scholarship fund and its Emerging Young Leaders program, which targets underserved middle and high school youth in the Long Beach area.

In addition to the tournament, the event will feature a Hole-in-One contest for a 2014 Lexus as well as other competitions and award presentations.

The cost to enter is $125 in advance and $145 at the door. The golf course is located at 5660 Orangewood Ave.
