Children of the Caribbean Inc. is a nonprofit organization that offers relief and assistance to deserving children across the Caribbean. Founded on June 1, 2010, by Julien Adams and his wife Rosie Hodge-Adams, the foundation delivers assistance in the areas of education, healthcare and social development.
The foundation’s efforts are geared toward resolving the ongoing struggles that some children face every day–poverty, hunger, illiteracy and disease–and to replace these struggles with hope for the future.
The projects that Children of the Caribbean fund and facilitate are developed so that each child who benefits is able to reach their fullest potential for personal growth, and to realize their dreams in a healthy environment. To the extent that a child’s social needs are met, that child is likely to develop into a healthy, confident, responsible, productive, competent, independent and self-controlled adult.
“Focusing on young children is by far the most brilliant investment that anyone could ever make in the future,” said founder Julien Adams. “Children of the Caribbean Inc. was founded on the premise that the lives of all children have equal value. An impoverished child in Haiti or a homeless child in the parish of St. Ann, Jamaica, is just as precious as the children in the United States of America and other developed countries. The foundation’s goal is to ensure that all children have the opportunity to lead a healthy, productive life.”
Children of the Caribbean identifies worthy projects in the Caribbean that support its mission. “We raise money and find the right people to support each project. We manage each project to a successful conclusion,” said Julien.
Children of the Caribbean recently held its second annual red carpet “Friend-Raiser” at a private residence in Bel-Air.
The evening included Caribbean cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment, including a performance by Aquile from NBC’s “The Voice,” and a live and silent auction. There were many exciting auction items such as a pass to the set of ABC’s “Revenge,” VIP tickets to the premiere of “Die Hard,” and a seven-night trip to Bora Bora. The foundation hoped to raise the money which will be donated to three important causes: St. Jude’s Hospital in St. Lucia, launching AIDS/HIV education programs in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and providing flush toilets and water to Hanover Primary School in Jamaica.
Among the celebrity guests and endorsers of the organization were Victoria Rowell (“The Young and the Restless”), and Chris Schauble (Emmy Award Winning KTLA anchor) who hosted the event, as well as Eric Close (“Nashville”), Aquile (“The Voice”), Stacey Dash (“Clueless”), Cindy Margolis (ABC’s “Beverly Hills Nannies”), Sheree Fletcher (VH1’s “Hollywood Exes”), Patrick Cunningham (casting director), Grace Valerie (singer), Aaron Fresh (recording artist), Marcus Shirock (actor), Domiziano Arcangeli (writer/ director).
