LOS ANGELES, Calif.–On Aug. 11, a 13-year-old girl was brutally attacked by two men in the Baldwin Hills Village area. According to reports, at around 7 p.m., the young lady ventured out to search for her two younger brothers, who left home without notifying an adult, to attend the nearby Friday Night Lights Festival at Jim Gilliam Park. As she perused the neighborhood, she noticed two men standing at a bus stop, watching her closely.

The young lady then decided to return home after she checked for her brothers at a hot dog stand they frequented. She then realized the two men were following close behind her.

As she approached an alley behind an apartment complex in the 4000 block of Coco Avenue, one man asked her the time in Spanish. She said she did not know and became afraid. Police say the young lady sprinted down the alley. The men chased her, grabbed her around the neck, choking her in an attempt to quiet her.

The Hispanic attacker said to the girl “Estas muy linda,” “you are very pretty” in English. He said this a few times and pushed her into a carport, where he raped her. His companion, a Black male, held the girl down, anxiously awaiting his turn, according to police reports.

While on top of the victim, the Hispanic attacker took off his shirt and exposed a tattoo on his chest, a blue-inked star inside of a circle. The suspect said, “I am going to give you something to remember me by.” He then took out a knife and began carving the symbol in the young lady’s left hand.

After he finished his attack, police reports say the alleged accomplice tied a shoelace around his arm and shot himself up with a drug, perhaps heroine. The two attackers then began to argue about who was going to inject the drug into the victim. At that time, she managed to escape and run to safety.

The Hispanic attacker is described as five-feet, five-inches, weighing about 185 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. His hair is said to be a flat-top style with gelled spiked tips. He may also have shaped eyebrows, possibly waxed on a regular basis. He is suspected to be in his 20s. A blue tattoo of a star inside of a circle is on his chest. He has a black mole on his right shoulder about the size of a dime. According to police, he uses the terms “cuzz” and “homies” and may belong to a gang.

The second suspect is described as a thin Black male, five-feet, two-inches to five-feet, five-inches, weighing about 125 pounds. His hair is black and in braided cornrows down to his neck. The victim said he has a rough voice and his left eye was bloodshot, possibly due to a medical condition. He used the “n-word” frequently.

District 10 City Councilman, Herb Wesson approved a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
