Dr. Charles H. Belcher, former pastor of congregations in Los Angeles died suddenly on Aug. 9, in St. Louis, Mo. The celebration of his life was held on Aug. 13, at the St. John AME Church in St. Louis, where he served as pastor.
Another celebration was held on Aug. 19, at the St. Paul AME Church in Berkeley. The Rt. Rev. T. Larry Kirkland, the presiding prelate of the Fifth Episcopal District of the AME Church, delivered the eulogy.
A gifted, motivational speaker, Dr. Belcher served locally as the pastor of Phillips Temple CME Church and Amos Temple CME Church. He was also the organizing pastor of the Upper Room Christian Church.
Interment was in Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond. Austin A. Layne Mortuary in St. Louis and Fouches Hudson Funeral Home in Oakland, were in charge of arrangements.
