Our Weekly Editor, Williamson, honored

The California Black Chamber of Commerce presented Our Weekly (OW) editor-in-chief, Kathy Williamson, with its 13th annual Black Press Award during a conference held last weekend at the Westin LAX Airport Hotel.
Williamson, joined on-stage by OW Publisher/CEO Natalie Cole, accepted the award, which the chamber said recognized on-going professionalism in reporting the African American story .
The chamber presented the award at its Ron Brown Memorial Awards Banquet which was held during the group’s annual commerce summit.
“This award reflects the hard work of the entire team at Our Weekly, including General Manager David Miller, veteran reporters Shirley Hawkins and Cynthia Griffin, highly adept editorial staff, contributing writers and talented production staff,” said Williamson.
Our Weekly is a four-year-old weekly publication with an audited/verified circulation of 50,000, delivered to homes and businesses in Baldwin Hills, Ladera Heights, Leimert Park, Lafayette Square, Carson, Compton, Inglewood and greater Los Angeles.
The California Black Chamber of Commerce was created in 1995 by five businessmen to assist local chambers around the state with business growth and development for their members; advocacy in supplier diversity issues; and with building communities in their region of operation.
