When babies kill babies
The murder of Jasmine Sanders

The murder of 8 year old Jasmine Sanders in South Los Angeles did something that many other killings in South Los Angeles didn’t do. It ignited a brief moment of shock and rage among the residents of the neighborhood where Jasmine was killed. It prompted a statement of sympathy and regret from Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and other elected officials.

The Board of Supervisors Wednesday voted to support a program intended to root out illegal immigrants in Los Angeles County jails.

Funds to assist transit projects

 Metropolitan Transportation Authority has unveiled a plan to raise sales tax a half-cent in effort to raise $40 billion over the next 30 years. The funds would be distributed amongst rail, bus rapid, and highway transit projects.

Drugs and guns seized in Baldwin Village and South L.A.

After an eight-month investigation, federal and local law enforcement announced Friday that they have arrested 38 reputed gang members and associates suspected of selling guns and drugs.

Working to get others involved in educating young Black men

The Motivated Men of Dorsey High School is a nonprofit organization committed to community collaboration and social responsibility through its efforts to prepare the young men at Dorsey High School to be effective communicators, critical thinkers and life-long learners. As a collaborative of alumni, parents, faculty, staff and community members, the organization’s objective is to foster positive relationships with the young men in an effort to close the achievement gap, increase test scores, and lead them to a successful high school experience.
