And she’s not even Black

Have you seen Miss Haiti Universe? If you haven’t, take a look. She is 22-year-old Sarodj Bertin, and yes she is beautiful indeed, but it’s not just her looks that won her the crown. It was her charm, smile, and guess what, she’s a lawyer. So, she isn’t just a striking woman in a bikini; she’s a striking woman in a bikini with the brain to match.
Good for Haiti for choosing a woman of power.

Some want to see his anger

In the weeks since the oil rigs exploded and sank into the Gulf of Mexico, President Barack Obama has dealt with the crisis using a calm, even-tempered demeanor.

However, as the oil spill deteriorates into the worst in United States history, and the environmental devastation approaching America’s shorelines, the president is becoming the target of the same anger that was originally fired at the BP (formerly British Petroleum plc).

Push for more ownership

The National Coalition of African American Owned Media (NCAAOM) will testify at an upcoming Congressional hearing that the proposed Comcast-NBC Universal merger will further shut the door to Blacks looking for more than lip service, when it comes to the issue of media ownership in the television, cable and online media sectors.

The United States House Judiciary Committee has scheduled a public hearing on the proposed $30-billion joint venture for June 7 at 9 a.m., at the California Science Center in Exposition Park.

A tough act to follow

Sunday’s concert at UCLA was ultra hype. From The Fernando Pullum High School All-Stars, with their Erykah Badu tributes, to Q-Tip, and his unique sounds, the crowd was pumped. Excitement filled the entire stadium with a distinguishing aura that you can only feel at a jazz and reggae festival. I had the honor of covering day one of this historical event.
