World Savings Bank, Wachovia Bank

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—Wells Fargo will provide loan changes worth more than $2 billion to thousands of California homeowners and provide an additional $32 million to thousands of borrowers who lost their homes through foreclosure, the state Attorney General's Office announced today.

None of the loans were made by Wells Fargo. All were originated by World Savings and Wachovia —both banks that Wells Fargo acquired, according to the Attorney General's office.

Invasion of privacy action

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—The girlfriend of the first husband of Jennifer Lopez filed suit against the actress today, alleging she interfered with a motion picture contract.

Telenovela actress/singer Claudia Vazquez of Covina brought the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court. She is currently representing herself and seeking at least $10 million in damages.

Lopez's lawyer, John H. Lavely, did not immediately return a call for comment.

Support groups for special needs children

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—A nonprofit organization that connects parents of special needs children to support groups and specialists will expand its online database of resources to Los Angeles, thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Verizon Foundation.

Brace Kids' directory provides information on 12,000 topics related to 50 specific childhood illnesses and conditions. It already lists resources in Long Beach, Orange County and San Francisco.

The website also translates information into 10 languages.

Working to get others involved in educating young Black men

The Motivated Men of Dorsey High School is a nonprofit organization committed to community collaboration and social responsibility through its efforts to prepare the young men at Dorsey High School to be effective communicators, critical thinkers and life-long learners. As a collaborative of alumni, parents, faculty, staff and community members, the organization’s objective is to foster positive relationships with the young men in an effort to close the achievement gap, increase test scores, and lead them to a successful high school experience.
