Elderly Los Angeles man, Eddie Lowe Jr., missing
Last seen Thanksgiving Day
LOS ANGELES, Calif.—An 86-year-old man is missing in Los Angeles, and police sought the public's help locating him.
Eddie Lowe Jr. was last seen Thanksgiving Day near the 2200 block of South Mansfield Avenue, said Officer Bruce Borihanh of the Los Angeles Police Department.
"Lowe may be in need of medical attention for a serious medical condition,'' Borihanh said.
Lowe is black, 6 feet and 165 pounds, with gray hair, brown eyes and a gray beard.
Anyone with information on Lowe's whereabouts was asked to contact the LAPD's Missing Persons Unit at (213) 996-1800 or 1-877-LAPD-24-7.
LOS ANGELES, Calif.—Police released surveillance video of man who burglarized a gold-buying business in the mid-Wilshire area.
The Oct. 12 burglary on the fourth floor of a building in the 3900 block of Wilshire Boulevard, near South Saint Andrews Place, occurred about 9:30 p.m., police said.
The burglar forced his way in and took a variety of jewelry. Police did not put a value on the items taken.
Detectives believe the same burglar may be responsible for other commercial break-ins in the area.
Born in Jackson, Miss., and raised in Chicago, Lou developed a passion for competing. He was an intense competitor, and in his younger years, had an interest in baseball.
According to long-time friend and teammate, Norman Leche, both he and Lou moved to Los Angeles in 1955 to play in the Negro Baseball Leagues and the California Stockton Baseball League. He as a versatile athlete, playing short-stop, pitcher and a host of other positions. Among the teams he played for was the Indiana Clowns.
VAN NUYS, Calif.—Choreographer Shane Sparks, who was a judge on MTV's "America's Best Dance Crew,'' was ordered today to stand trial on eight sex-related counts involving an underage girl in the 1990s.
Van Nuys Superior Court Judge Jessica Silvers found sufficient evidence to require Sparks—whose full name is Melvin Shane Sparks—to proceed to trial on six counts of lewd act on a child and two counts of oral copulation of a person under 16.
LOS ANGELES, Calif.—The Los Angeles police today asked the public's help to find a missing 51-year-old Topanga woman.
Joanne Marie Woodworth was last seen on Dec. 16, 2010, around 1 p.m. at her home in the 23900 block of Bessemer Street. Woodworth has not been seen or heard from since and her family is extremely concerned for her welfare, according to police.
Woodworth is described as white, with brown hair and brown eyes. She stands five feet six inches tall and weighs around 150 pounds. It is unknown what she was wearing last.
LOS ANGELES, Calif.—On Aug. 11, a 13-year-old girl was brutally attacked by two men in the Baldwin Hills Village area. According to reports, at around 7 p.m., the young lady ventured out to search for her two younger brothers, who left home without notifying an adult, to attend the nearby Friday Night Lights Festival at Jim Gilliam Park. As she perused the neighborhood, she noticed two men standing at a bus stop, watching her closely.
