Commission is all White

LANCASTER, Calif.—The Lancaster Neighborhood Vitalization Commission was recently revamped and brought in a few new board members. But the lack of diversity within the commission has stirred the concern of various members of the community including The Community Action League (TCAL), which has been actively pursuing change in the Lancaster city government including how issue such as Section 8 and probation are handled.

Millionaire Mind Kids

“Money, money, money. Some people got to have it. Hey, hey, some people really need it …”

The O’Jays had it right, because it seems like everyone needs it these days, even the kids. When money is hard to come by, adults seem to always scramble to maintain what they have, or they turn to education accounts or whatever emergency funds they have to make up the deficit.

If we only managed our money right the first time. That is why training children about the green is so important.

The Community Action League

Emmett Murrell, co-founder of The Community Action League (TCAL), addressed the press on Wednesday morning in front of the Michael Antonovich Antelope Valley Courthouse about the failing corrections system. Murrell and his peers are proposing that the department of probation reform the system to include enrichment programs for the youth in camps. “We are not here to indict the probation department,” he said. “My biggest concern ... is that if a young man is suspended (from school) three times, his alternative is going to camp.
